MAG: Vauversin, Original NV

Maison Vauversin is a storied winery in Champagne. It was created in 1640 by Nicolas de Vauversin, who was the first to plant grapevines in the little village of Oger, on the Côte des Blancs. The winery is now into its fifteenth generation of family ownership, with the young Laurent Vauversin at the helm. It's also now a fully certified biodynamic winery, making Vauversin a truly authentic expression of blanc de blanc Champagne. Original NV is made from 100% Chardonnay, taken from the very best Grand Cru vineyards of Oger and aged for 24 months on lees. The nose is rich and complex with aromas of baked apple, pear, and apricot; along with notes of white flowers, fresh brioche, and toasted hazelnuts. Subtle mineral nuances bring a touch of freshness, while delicate hints of honey add a subtle sweetness. The palate is lively and refreshing at first, which then gives way to a creamy texture, balanced by a vibrant and precise acidity. The finish is long and persistent, leaving a pleasant sensation of minerality and freshness.
